01 / THE CHALLENGE

One festival.
Both sides of it.

The organising team needs to collect applications, approve artists and assign them to time slots across multiple stages. The audience needs to discover those artists, hear their music and find out when and where they’re playing.

I built the public experience and the tools behind it: music, market and performer profiles; a generated festival schedule; SoundCloud listening and an audio-reactive visualiser; plus applications, volunteer coordination, communications and ticketing.

The organising work becomes the experience people explore.

02 / THE EXPERIENCE PEOPLE SEE

GENERATED FROM THE STAGE PROGRAM
SET TIMES BECOME DISCOVERY

A program you
can press play on.

Admins assign approved music applications to time slots on the Main Stage, Market Stage and Dog House. The system generates the public program from those assignments, alongside workshops.

Visitors see the artist, stage, genre and set time together. They can sample an artist’s music through a SoundCloud preview, then open their full profile.

  • Multiple stages and a workshop program
  • Day-by-day schedules that run across midnight
  • Music previews directly in the program
  • Artist photos and links to full profiles

OGIE / WATCH THE PROFILE IN ACTION
A SPACE FOR THE ARTIST

Hear the music.
Meet the person.

The DJ profile brings together a portrait, biography, musical style, SoundCloud playback and scheduled sets. The listening experience was built with a live audio analyser and a visualiser that reacts to the stream.

OGIE’s page also brings his stage and time into a dedicated set-time card, with controls to share, save or copy its link. Artist navigation keeps the discovery going.

  • SoundCloud streaming and audio-reactive visuals
  • Artist biographies, imagery and social links
  • Stage assignments and set times on the profile
  • Shareable set-time cards and artist discovery

THE FESTIVAL HAS MANY FACES.

01

DJ profiles

Music, identity and a place in the program.

02

Market profiles

A presence for the people behind the stalls.

03

Performer profiles

A place to discover the acts beyond the DJ line-up.

FROM INTEREST TO A DECISION

Give every application
a place to go.

Music, markets, workshops, art and volunteers all need different information. The platform brings those submissions together, with dedicated browsers for music and other applications.

THE DESIGN DECISION

Keep collection and review in the same workflow, while giving different kinds of applications the space they need.

  • Application forms and submission review
  • Dedicated music and non-music browsers
  • Submission exports for organisers

WORKFLOW ILLUSTRATION

FROM ARTISTS TO A RUNNING ORDER

Make room for
every performance.

Approved music applications feed into stage management. Admins choose a stage and assign an artist to a time slot, building separate programs for the Main Stage, Market Stage and Dog House, with workshop scheduling alongside them.

THE DESIGN DECISION

Use the approved application as the starting point for programming. Let those stage and time assignments generate the public schedule and appear on artist profiles.

  • Approved artist pool and assigned/unassigned views
  • Stage-specific time slots and set durations
  • Weekend scheduling across midnight
  • Generated public schedule and profile set times

WORKFLOW ILLUSTRATION

FROM A CREW TO A COORDINATED TEAM

Look after the people
making it happen.

Volunteers need schedules. Teams need leads. Organisers need a place to coordinate. Volunteer management, team assignments, communications and replies sit alongside the event’s other operations.

THE DESIGN DECISION

Give people coordination the same attention as the stage program. The experience depends on both.

  • Volunteer schedules, teams and leads
  • Campaigns, attendance and email replies
  • Internal organiser chat

WORKFLOW ILLUSTRATION

FROM SEPARATE TASKS TO THE BIGGER PICTURE

A place to see
what needs you.

The festival dashboard brings application progress and live Humanitix ticketing into the same view, with shortcuts into the work. Festival editions, organiser access and an audit log support the administration behind it.

THE DESIGN DECISION

Make the dashboard a starting point for action. Put the overview next to a clear route into the details.

  • Application progress and quick actions
  • Live Humanitix ticketing integration
  • Festival editions, access and audit history

04 / WHAT IT MAKES POSSIBLE

Less to piece together.
More to work with.

The result is a connected festival product: an expressive public website, artist and community profiles, a generated multi-stage schedule, integrated music discovery and the administration tools that keep it organised.

The practical connection is between the organising work and the public website: stage assignments generate the schedule visitors see, and artist profiles bring the set times and music together.

You don’t need to run a festival to use this approach. A service business could collect a customer’s details once, then carry them through quoting, booking and a customer portal. The useful part is connecting the steps your team already works through.

01 / CONNECTED

A shared starting point.

An approved application becomes a scheduled act that visitors can discover and listen to.

02 / PURPOSEFUL

Space for the detail.

Rich public profiles and purpose-built tools serve the audience, artists and organisers.

03 / REUSABLE

Another edition ahead.

Festival editions give each year a place within the system.
